Garlic Shrimp

Garlic Shrimp
A sizzling dish of shrimp flavored with fresh garlic, sea salt, parsley and served with lemon wedges. Perfect as an appetizer on its own, or served as part of a selection of tapas.

12 large uncooked shrimp (prawns)—peeled and deveined with bottom of tail left intact
2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
2 cloves garlicfinely chopped
½ teaspoon sea salt
1 teaspoon finely chopped fresh parsley and lemon wedges


HEAT the oil in a frying pan over a medium heat and add the shrimp, garlic and salt. COOK for 3 minutes, tossing regularly. SPRINKLE with parsley and serve with lemon wedges for squeezing.

Variation: To make chili-garlic shrimp, add 1 small fresh red chilideseeded and finely chopped.



  Shrimp Fried Rice. A traditional Chinese fried rice dish with fresh succulent shrimp, red pepper, zucchini and green peas.


  Greek Shrimp with Feta. Fresh shrimp (prawns) cooked in a flavorsome tomato and herb sauce, topped with crumbled feta cheese and served with long-grain rice.


  Shrimp and Mushroom Laksa. This is our version of laksa, or spicy Malaysian noodle soup. The soft texture and mild flavor of button mushrooms complement the shrimp extremely well, and they also act like a sponge, soaking up the spicy soup.
